What does it look like to be the hands and feet of Jesus?
Do you know someone who has fallen on tough times, picked themselves back up, but is still climbing the hill to get their life to something that feels normal again? I do. And I have been that person.
When a friend has to ride the city bus at 8 p.m. and you have the ability to offer them a ride once in a while, that, my friend, is being a caregiver.
It doesn't have to be a huge gesture. A family member in the hospital? Bring them coffee or breakfast. Sometimes even a simple hug is all they need. Take food to someone. Pray for them. Show up for them, however they need you.
That is being a caregiver.
I, myself, have faced so many obstacles over the past few years. Losing my house, losing $25K, wage garnishment (which I fought and beat), and family members who are simply going through it.
Still, God is at the center, which makes all of these struggles seem less difficult.
I know it's tough to let go and let God. I also know that when we surrender to HIS will and trust in HIS plan, even when we can't see it or understand it, He walks with us.
He goes before us.
And He NEVER, EVER leaves us behind.
He will leave the 99 to save the 1, and that 1 is YOU.
So show up for those who might not expect it.
Give without expectation. Be disciplined. Be a good steward of what God has entrusted to you. My late husband, Pat, always had this reminder written in our budget book: ‘God will not give you more if you can't manage what you already have.’ It’s a reminder that everything we have belongs to HIM, and we have a responsibility to manage it well.
HONOR Him. Love Him. Love your neighbors. Be Jesus's hands and feet.
Serve with a joyful heart and see how God moves.
Keep it Simple.
God Loves You, and so do I.
Christine
