I feel lucky that I get to work at the nail salon a couple of weekends a month. This is my weekend on. What started as a side hustle after I lost my house to Hurricane Milton has turned into a place where I found community. Family. Friends. And owners that are pretty cool, most days. (LOL) Just kidding—I joke in case they read this. :)

One of our newer nail techs had a pretty bad accident a few weeks back. I didn't get to see her before I left. I felt bad that I didn't get to see her, but I felt even worse that I didn't reach out to her after her accident.

I had been gone for two weeks, and I believe her accident happened about two weeks before I left. I don't really know why I didn't reach out. I guess I figured she was overwhelmed, and I knew she was going to be okay from conversations with a friend who had been with her after it happened.

But going back to work after being gone for two weeks—and not seeing her for the two weeks before I left, knowing she would be back at work—I knew I needed to apologize for my lack of support.

Whenever I feel a certain "pull" or "nudge," I know it's God. And I really felt guilty for not checking on her.

When she arrived at work Saturday, I walked up to her and said, "I'm so sorry. I am a shitty person!"

She said, "What for?" (Enter more guilt) haha

I proceeded to apologize to her while embracing her with a hug. She wasn't even upset with me. She welcomed the embrace, and I could tell it was much needed.

She proceeded to tell me what happened. She was riding her E-Bike to work when one of the tires fell off. Can you imagine? She doesn't remember everything, but apparently she flipped over the bike. She thinks she still has a broken cheekbone, along with some internal injuries. But thank God, she is going to be okay. She spent a week or so in the hospital.

I don't really know her. Like, KNOW KNOW her. She's fairly new to the salon, and I am only there every other weekend. And yet, I felt some kind of obligation to apologize for my behavior.

Call it guilt.

Call it whatever you want.

I call it God working in me and through me. (The whisper)

I can tell she's a beautiful soul. She shared a little bit about some other things that are going on in her life. I hugged her again and said, "Life shouldn't be this hard." And then I reminded her to praise HIM through the storms. He's walking with her.

I hope she remembers that.

She's been through it. I don't know all the details, and I don't need to know them. I know this: she is a child of the Most High God. And I am called to LOVE ALL OF GOD'S CHILDREN.

Maybe that's what caregiving really looks like sometimes. Loving people - right where they're at.

I've spent a lot of my life caring for people. And I've learned that caregiving isn't always about fixing something, having the right answers, or even knowing someone well. Sometimes it's simply noticing. Sometimes it's reaching out. Sometimes it's sitting beside someone in the middle of their mess and reminding them that they aren't alone.

Sometimes it's a meal. Sometimes it's a phone call.

Sometimes it's a prayer.

And sometimes… it's just a hug.

We don't always know what someone is carrying. We don't always know what happened before they walked through the door. And we don't always have to know the details to care.

I think that's what God was reminding me this weekend. Shame on me for being selfish and not reaching out sooner. And thank You, God, for the nudge.

Thank You for reminding me that I don't have to know someone well to love them well.

Reminding me and you, let everything we do—whether it's big or small—be for HIS glory.

Keep it Simple. Jesus loves you and so do I.

P.S. I left my Jesus n Jeepin cards on the table near my product table and they were all gone at the end of the day. YEAH!!! More followers... I am grateful.
