Too Excited to Sleep

I remember a commercial from a long time ago. Two kids were acting silly and full of excitement because they were leaving for Disney the next morning. Their parents wanted them to go to sleep, but the kids were having none of it. They were simply too excited to sleep!

Boy, can I relate to that feeling.

It’s 3 AM as I’m writing this, and I am wide awake with this exact feeling. I AM TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!!

😂 There are so many thoughts dancing around in my head right now, but excitement is definitely the main one.

This mission God has put on my heart has me so pumped up.

And I know this may seem silly to some, but to me, this is an incredible accomplishment. Why?

Because this has been a dream of mine for 3½ years.

I made a commitment to myself when I turned 55. I created a five-year plan. When I turned 60, I wanted to be able to travel. I wanted a vehicle that could pull a small travel trailer, sell the things I didn't need, simplify my life and travel the USA.

But financial struggle has been a very real thing for me for a very long time. Growing up, we never had a lot.

We always had what we needed, and I am grateful for that, but I don't remember ever being one of the kids whose parents had an abundance of money.

I got a job at 16. From that point on, if I wanted something, I paid for it myself. I don't remember ever really being taught the value of money or how to properly manage it. I was reckless. Credit cards were my friends for a while. 😂 Until I was over my head.

As an adult, I have always lived paycheck to paycheck. To me, it was normal.

I've been doing a lot of looking back at my life lately, and I have come to realize something.

Life is short. Life is precious. And life is meant to be lived.

Not just talked about.

I have talked about wanting to embark on a trip like this for a while now.

I talked about traveling.

I talked about camping.

I talked about seeing the USA.

That’s all I did.

TALK.

I never really put a plan in motion.

Until NOW.

I made the plan.

I committed to it.

And even though I had no idea if I would actually be able to make it happen, I kept moving toward it.

And now, here I am.

This trip to Dallas wasn't originally supposed to be a camping trip. I was planning to drive to Austin, then to Dallas, attend Summit and come home. (Hotel 1 night between here and Austin-Family in Austin)

Which, looking at it now, would have been a hell of a lot less expensive. 😂

But then God started nudging me.

Why are you not using this trip as an opportunity?

So, I bought some camping gear. I started planning. I started organizing. And now, about two weeks later, I am actually ready.

What started as a trip to a Make Wellness event has turned into a Mission for God.

And that is what has me awake at 3 AM.

Because this isn't just a trip. This is the beginning of something I have wanted for 3+ years.

It is the beginning of the five-year plan I made for myself.

And somehow, it is all coming together almost exactly as I envisioned it.

1½ years early!

I know that didn't happen by accident.

I give all of the glory to God.

I have spent a lot of my life trying to figure things out on my own. Trying to make things happen. Trying to control the outcome. Then, somewhere along the way, I learned that I don't have to know how everything is going to work out.

I just need to trust God with the next step.

And right now, the next step is pretty simple.

Go.

Go see the country.

Go camping.

Go make memories.

Go share the love of Jesus.

Go.

I've spent enough time talking about someday.

Someday is here.

We, me and the pup, leave in 72 hours for our 1st trip of what I hope to be many!

I cannot wait to see where God takes us.

See you on the road. ❤️

Keep it Simple. God Loves You.

And so do I.

When I made the decision to take this to the next level and turned it into a road trip, I originally didn't think I could afford to do a camping trip. It was supposed to be one night in a hotel, which
